September 28th 2011-- HomeSchool Volleyball’s Tulsa NOAH Jaguars (10-2) avenged not only an earlier season loss they also ended a 3 year streak of losses to their cross town rival Metro Christian Academy. In addition to a great win for their Varsity the NOAH Jr. High team (9-1) has emerged as one of the most formidable Jr. High HomeSchool teams in the nation. NOAH Head Coach Eddie Redden submitted the following write up about the Jaguars recent victories over Metro Christian.

Since the inception of the NOAH jaguars volleyball team four years ago, we have had fairly good seasons with the expected growth and better results every year.  The one victory that has always been elusive was that of Metro Christian Academy.  The varsity games would often go past the 25 point mark as we each fought for the two point lead.  They were amazingly intense games but the NOAH jags were always two points short.  Metro became the Moby Dick to our Ahab.

Our three teams have had a compacted schedule this year, coming off a 6 game streak, with only one practice and a hard fought victory over Regent under our belt, our teams faced our nemesis, Metro Christian, in our house, Tuesday Oct. 20th.  This was our second time to face them this season, and only our Junior High team had been victorious in the first meeting.

In the 5 p.m. game, the NOAH Jags 14 and under team (Junior High) was once again triumphant over Metro’s 9th grade team.  These young ladies are having an amazing season so far with only one defeat on the season, they are 9-1 with several girls that look poised to carry on successfully at the varsity level after graduations happen over the next couple years.  These girls are looking forward to seeing how they do against the nation's best in their first trip to nationals in Springfield, MO this year.

After the Junior High match, our Junior Varsity team squared off and played
THE BEST they have ever played, taking it to the tie-breaking 3rd set and fighting it out over who would have the final two point lead.  It was not to be us this time and JV lost the set 28 - 26.

At 7 p.m., the Varsity match squared off decisively, with NOAH taking the first and second sets (25-9, 25-17).  Metro did not give up, and eventually beat NOAH for the third set (25-19).  In spite of some horrible calls and potential for frustration, both teams just played volleyball.  In the fourth set, the NOAH jags dug down deep inside and pulled out all the desire for the win, putting aside their past defeats, and won it (25-21)!  Not only was this a first in NOAH Jags history, but to do in 4 sets and not take it to the 5th set was an incredible fete.

We have an incredible amount of respect for the volleyball program at Metro, and for those that love watching good volleyball, this is always THE match to see.

With a 10-2 record the Jaguars have only one earlier season loss left to avenge and they will have that opportunity this weekend when they take on the HomeSchool Powerhouse OKC ‘Stormin Mustangs’.

NOAH Volleyball is carrying great momentum into the final segment of the Fall season. The Jaguar Varsity Girls have won their last 6 matches by a combined score of 18-2. This week the girls have a big event on Saturday; NOAH takes part in a 3-way tourney with the defending OCSAA champions, Regent Prep, along with the homeschool powerhouse (Stormin Mustangs) which is one of only 2 teams who've defeated the young Jaguar team. Last week NOAH overcame a huge hurdle, finally defeating an always-tough Metro Christian team, who'd defeated the NOAH girls earlier in the season.

MaxPreps just released an updated rankings for Oklahoma Volleyball. When grouped with 4A teams, NOAH is ranked 9th, with a power rating of 15.  Overall NOAH is in the 71st percentile of all prep volleyball teams in the nation.
Oklahoma's other active homeschool team, the OKC Storm combined with the Norman Mustangs, are undefeated and ranked 4th.  This Saturday NOAH has a 3-way with Regent Prep (current OCSAA champions) & (Stormin Mustangs).
The winner of the NOAH vs Storm match will be seeded very high in next month's Homeschool National Tournament, in Springfield. This will be a great opportunity for bringing many fans out to the match.
