May 2013-- Texas Tornado & HomeSchool Volleyball Alumni Serena Warner has transferred from Ohio University to the University of Oregon where she will play her Junior and Senior year. This is a significant move as the Oregon Ducks finished 2nd in the nation last year. Her high school coach and mother Veronica Warner stated "we are excited to see Serena represent homeschool volleyball at the highest level." According to Goducks.com the "junior middle blocker and transfer will be a key addition in her first season for the Ducks in 2013. As a sophomore for Ohio University, ranked 36th nationally in blocks, hit .306, and was a two-time All-MAC Defensive Player of the Week. In fall of 2012, helped the Bobcats (21-10, 14-2) win the MAC East Division regular season title and advance to the conference tourney semifinals. In the classroom, also shined as a Dean's List selection and Academic All-MAC honorable mention...
With over 70 pages of results from the 2013 National Christian HomeSchool Track & Field Championships we wanted to spotlight a few of the Varsity age group results, including the 100, 200, & 400 Meter Dash National Champions, additionally we included the relay team results and other key results. The 2013 Golden Shoe Award Winners were Brooklynn Meinke (Christ Prep) & Christopher Morrison (KC East Lions)
In the 12th annual National Christian HomeSchool Track & Field Championships Brooklyn Meinke of CPA took home the Girls Golden Shoe Award while Christopher Morrison of the KC East Lions was the 2013 Boys Golden Show Award Winner, this was a hotly contested battle in which 4 other athletes were within 5 points. The FCA Knights, SOMO Rush, Christ Prep, KC East Lions, & Illinois Crusaders each took home a team National Championship.
There are 3 Major HomeSchool Volleyball Tournaments, in the first of a multi part series we will look at the 3 tournaments that have established themselves to be the three most competitive HomeSchool Volleyball tournaments in the US. In Part I HSLive365 is going to take an in-depth look at these three major HomeSchool Volleyball tournaments and offer a comparison. The first of these articles will be the Rating of competitiveness, using a rating scale of each tournaments top teams. The 3 "Major" HomeSchool Volleyball Tournaments we will be comparing are the NCHVC, Texas State, & NHSVBT.
The 2013 National Christian HomeSchool Golf Championships (NCHGC) were a huge success! North Carolina's FHE Hawks won their teams first National Championship, they defeated Day 1 leader in Texas' THESA Riders. FHE also defeated the OKC Storm, Christ Prep, Aaron Academy, SATCH Mavericks, Tulsa NOAH, NWA Hornets, & Cornerstone. The THESA Riders Girls team won the National Championship in convincing fashion. The Boys Individual National Championship was won by Georgia's Wyatt Larkin who birdied the 18th hole, winning a thrilling match over recent University of Missouri Commit Donald Stimble of Missouri. The Girls Individual National Championship was won by THESA Rider super star Kenzie Wright who defeated defending national champion Bekah Goodwin. Michael Townsend won the Jr. High National Championship, defeating NWA Hornets (ARK) Jacob Winkel. Also included in the Official Results are the Skill Competition Winners. The 2014 NCHGC is projected to have over 100 participants, the dates are May 7th-9th at Rivercut Golf Course, Springfield, MO.
May 9th 2013-- Day 1 of the HomeSchool Golf National Championships is in the books. Wyett Larkin (Jr) is in the lead after shooting a 69. The recent Kennasaw State (NCAA D-I) commit is leading by 1 stroke over recent University of Missouri commit Donald Stimble (Jr.) who shot 2 under par 70. The team score is still close with Texas' THESA Riders leading with a 327. North Carolina's FHE is within striking distance with a 330, the OKC Storm shot a 336 and Christ Prep a 347. The Girls first day leader is Kenzie Wright from THESA who shot a first round 72. She hit 14 greens in a row with a chance to birdie each of them.
May 2013-- The 2013 National Christian HomeSchool Golf Championships are under way in Springfield, MO. The 4th annual HomeSchool Golf Championships had their Chipping, Putting, & Long Drive Contest on Wednesday May 8th each contest had one boys & one girls champion. Texas' THESA Riders ended up with four of the six contest champions, while North Carolina's FHE & Kansas' Christ Prep each had a champion. In addition to these contest results we have an exciting update on a past participant Joey Johnson who was just named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman & Newcomer of the Year! Joey represents Missouri State. Also we want to announce a couple Division I Commitments from the elite homeschool golfers...
May 2013-- On March 19th-23rd 2013 all of the best HomeSchool Basketball teams in the Nation traveled to Springfield Missouri to participate in the 22nd annual National Christian HomeSchool Basketball Championships (NCHBC). Once again the National Tournament had the ‘Field of 64’ bracket where all 64 teams had the opportunity to advance into Division I by winning their first game. Below you will see the Top 50 finishes from the 2013 Varsity Boys National Christian HomeSchool Basketball Championships (NCHBC.) The 2013 NCHBC had a field of nearly 100 Varsity Boys teams alone.
May 8th 2013-- Today HomeSchool Sports 4th annual National Christian HomeSchool Spring Championships kicks off. The 2013 Spring Championships will feature over 800 athletes and 100 teams between Golf, Track & Field, & Girls Soccer. The Track and Field National Championships are in their 12th year while Girls Soccer & Golf are each in their 4th year. These Championships are once again being held in Springfield, MO and feature several new states including Washington, Pennsylvania, Michigan, & Florida. May 3rd 2013-- 6 weeks ago HomeSchool Basketball's National Final 4 Games were being played, it was a day that many of the nations players, coaches, fans, and programs will not soon forget. A few things stood out to me on this particular day, of course the B18 game between the HCYA Warriors and Tulsa NOAH Jaguars was certainly the game of day, the hype leading up to this game was special and the performances on the court along with the atmosphere at the gym were truly unforgettable. The focus in this post however will be on the Memphis FCA Nighthawks Varsity Girls team, who after becoming an elite team nearly became the storyline of the 2013 National Championships!
